Pastor Gerald M. Overall Bio
I was called into the gospel/preaching/teaching ministry in the late summer or early fall of 1975. I preached in the street until 1976 and, later that year, joined Mt. Zion MBC under Pastor Joseph B. Barlow Jr., the man I credit with teaching me how to study, teach, and preach God’s word.
Later, under the Holy Spirit’s direction, I moved my membership to 1st MBC in 1978, where I served under the late Pastor E. M. Brown until 1984, when he went home to be with the Lord. He taught me to be faithful to God and build people and buildings.
After Pastor Brown’s homegoing, Rev Alfred L. Davis Jr. became the new pastor of 1st MBC and served as my pastor from 1984 to December 29th, 2002. He taught me how to be humble and follow leadership. He also was the first pastor to get me interested in studying Christian History, which later led to the writing of my second book, “The Church That Jesus Built.”
Later, in March of 1990, I attended William Tyndale Bible Seminary (satellite classes), where I studied The History Of Public Worship and Christian Doctrine.
In June 2002, the Lord Jesus Christ tasked me with organizing what is today Runner For Christ Ministries Church. We held our first worship service on April 3rd, 2003. His vision for RFCM is simple: “Teaching, Learning, and Doing.” And that is what we do.
I have been Married to my wife Shelia Overall for 37 side-by-side years, and God has blessed me with five children who are now successful independent adults.
To date, I have written four books: “Jesus Christ From His Birth To His Ascension” and “The Church That Jesus Christ Built from AD 30 to the Present.”, “The Bible God’s Word to Us, and “Biblical Giving.”
